How do you file a claim?
So how do you file a claim?
What if you're in an accident? Maybe you're watching this, and you were in an accident yesterday. How do you file a claim?
Well, it's pretty simple. You call the insurance company for the at fault driver and you tell them your name, what happened, when the accident happened and see if they've already opened the claim.
You'll be directed to an adjuster who's handling your case if they've opened it. If not, they will open a file and you'll start dealing with an adjuster.
The adjuster is going to want to see prior medical records if you've had prior medical care. They might also ask for copies of your bills. They might want a copy of the police report. All those things are standard in a personal injury case.
You can file a claim on your own. You don't need a lawyer to file a claim for you. Whether or not you're going to get top dollar is a question of what type of claim it is.
If you have questions and just don't know what to do at some stage in the process, give me a call. I'll be happy to visit with you.
